Most dogs hate having their paws held. You get one nail done, they pull away, and the clippers go back in the drawer for another month - until the nails are clicking on the floor and it's a vet visit.
This board takes you out of the equation. Your dog scratches at it themselves, the way they'd dig at the ground, and the sandpaper surface files the nail down as they go. Because they're doing it, there's nothing to fight about. Most dogs pick it up in one session.
How it works
- Load a treat into the compartment at the top.
- Set the board down and let your dog see you do it.
- They paw at it to get the treat - and file a nail with every scratch.
- Two or three short sessions a week keeps the nails where they should be.
The treat is the whole mechanism. It turns nail care into something your dog asks for instead of something you have to hold them down for.
Who it's for
Small, medium, and large dogs. Especially good for dogs who panic at the sight of clippers, rescue dogs with a history around handling, and anyone who's simply given up on trimming at home.
Who it isn't for
It files the front nails well. Back nails are harder - most dogs won't scratch with their hind paws, so you may still need clippers for those. And it won't fix nails that have already grown into the pad; that's a vet job first.
Dew claws don't touch the board either. Check those separately.

How fast the surface wears depends on the dog. A large dog scratching hard will go through a sheet faster than a terrier.

Care and safety
Supervise sessions, especially the first few. Keep them short - a minute or two is plenty. Stop if you see any redness or if your dog seems sore afterwards. Check the nails as you go so you don't file past the quick. Replace the sandpaper once it stops filing. For pet use only; not a toy, keep away from children.
